Domestic Violence a Workplace Issue?

A recent FWC ruling has determined that family and domestic violence (FDV) warrants a workplace response, as it can have a negative impact on worker wellbeing and safety that may be carried with them into the workplace. Nonetheless, the ACTU’s proposal that workers have access to 10 days of paid FDV leave per year has been rejected.

Arguing that existing protections and allowances should be sufficient for workers personal needs, the suggestion was that the award be amended to allow workers access to unpaid FDV as well as access to personal leave for FDV related purposes (such as attending court or time to seek new accommodation).
