This week we are excited to have launched our new website, featuring fantastic imagery of our very own Pinnacle People staff! As well as this it is busy times in our offices, with everyone gearing up to support the hospitality industry as it comes back alive with a bang with the first hints of Spring in the air!
Spring is an interesting season for the hospitality industry because we have people getting out and about more, going to events, (drinking) yet also being aware of summer, less clothing, beach trips. As cliche as it may seem, there are a lot of customers out there who want to have a good time but are also self conscious – it's a time of year where they are consuming more frequently whilst wanting to consume less!
Be aware of decadent yet health-conscious options on your menu, hangover cures and light refreshing meals particularly as specials the day after big events! Make the most of your out door areas as people get excited to emerge from winter hibernation and be out and about.
Maintaining staffing levels during seasonal peaks and troughs can be a challenge, but if you can, plan ahead in anticipation of those busy days when you know people will be out, such as around the major race days or the lead up to Christmas. If you know you will need an extra staff member for say, 2-3 months consistently, you may want to get your preferred staff member locked in on a seasonal contract, and then top up as needed week to week or day to day with additional casual staff.
Aside from any leave that your permanent staff may have booked in, while they may be happy to work longer than usual hours over peak times, remember that increasing their hours too much may lead to low morale at your busiest times, when you want happy staff to keep your customers happy!
