Pinnacle People is proud to announce our support of the National Indigenous Culinary Institute (NICI) for 2019.
NICI is ‘changing the face of the Australian hospitality industry’, providing end to end chef training programs for aspiring Indigenous Australians to train and work with the best in the industry.
After completing NICI’s Skills for Success training program at William Angliss, each Indigenous trainee will be personally mentored and employed by a Culinary Guardian. The program offers inspiration and a “taste” of the industry under the culinary guardianship of restaurants such as Rockpool Bar & Grill, Bistro Guillaume, Aria, Icebergs Dining Room, The European, Catalina and more. This elite training program provides on the job training combined with contemporary industry qualifications to turn a passion for food and cooking into a rewarding career.
NICI was started by a group of people in the sector who saw evident, a lack of indigenous presence in the fine dining industry. Established in 2012, NICI creates learning and skills for a lifetime.
“At Pinnacle People we believe every person should have the opportunity to explore their passion. We are delighted to begin this partnership with NICI and to see what the future holds for this fantastic organisation and every one of their aspiring chefs” – Wendy Mead
NICI’s philosophy is that if an Indigenous person has an opportunity to be trained by the best in the industry they will become the best. The program provides opportunities and skills to use in the kitchen and beyond the window of the pass.
